Curriculum

Setting projects up for success

Module 1

Assessing the case for change and appropriate methodology

Examine waterfall, agile, and hybrid approaches to project management. Choose and apply suitable strategies based on organisational objectives, project requirements, and stakeholder needs.

Module 2

Setting objectives and scoping

Establish clear success metrics and benefits for the project. Define precise constraints and guardrails, ensuring proposed approaches align with existing organisational strategies. Regularly update project scopes and objectives to ensure they remain aligned with evolving needs and maximise value delivery.

Module 3

Estimating and scheduling resources

Develop accurate project schedules and budgets by effectively estimating time and resource needs. Use agile tools and approaches to maintain and adjust project timelines. Integrate agile estimation, capacity planning, and continuous scheduling to enhance project adaptability and efficiency.

Module 4

Establishing effective governance structures

Implement robust governance frameworks and facilitate high-performing agile teams in various project environments. Align agile governance with organisational frameworks to empower decision-making and enhance adaptability.

Month 5

Strategic thinking and planning

Learn how your organisation’s strategic direction impacts operational plans. Develop and implement aligned plans, prioritise activities, and deliver sustainable solutions to adapt to changing factors.

Optimising project execution

Module 5

Communicating with and managing stakeholders

Identify relevant stakeholders in the project. Develop and implement effective communication plans to manage their expectations. Enhance stakeholder management through transparent, iterative feedback loops in agile environments.

Module 6

Managing risk, resources, and costs

Explore various tools for maintaining economic viability and resource optimisation in projects. Establish comprehensive plans that forecast, evaluate, and neutralise risks. Incorporate agile financial adjustments and proactive risk management into daily and sprint activities.

Module 7

Tracking and optimising performance

Implement systems that measure progress and productivity. Utilise metrics and regular reviews to ensure team efforts and project phases are meeting stipulated objectives. Use agile-specific tools to continuously monitor performance and adjust based on real-time feedback.

Module 8

Navigating and negotiating project changes

Effectively respond to and manage changes within projects while resolving disputes and achieving consensus among stakeholders. Implement agile change management processes, prioritising backlog adjustments and iterative documentation.

Month 10

Stakeholder management and communicating impact

Enhance presentation skills, problem-solving abilities, and negotiation techniques while learning to manage stakeholder relationships, communicate effectively, and influence through various media forms.

Delivering and measuring excellent outcomes

Module 9

Quality assurance and compliance

Employ techniques to integrate regular quality checks and adherence mechanisms, safeguarding projects against regulatory mishaps and quality fall-off. Implement continuous testing and strict 'Definition of Done' checks to ensure consistent quality.

Module 10

Ensuring continuous improvement

Engage in systematic reviews of current practices, identify effectiveness gaps, and execute targeted improvements.

Apply insights from sprint retrospectives to dynamically refine processes, enhancing project value.

Module 11

Analysing project outcomes and closing projects

Lead debrief sessions to evaluate project outcomes, capture lessons learned, and develop ongoing strategies to sustain the project's benefits. Finalise project closure processes to verify that outcomes meet established objectives. Extract actionable insights from completed work to better inform future endeavours.

Module 12

Portfolio consolidation

Consolidate evidence and demonstrations of learning, reflecting on and documenting the knowledge, skills, and behaviours acquired.
